Jewish history in Germany is long and complicated. As we all know, especially in the last century the Jewish population was forced to suffer inhumane and tragic violence – even in Bamberg. However, the Jewish roots of our city go far beyond the time of National Socialism. In fact, in earlier times the Jewish community of Bamberg was well integrated, and participated in public life without having to fear for life.
